The latest incarnation of rebelpeon.com has hit the streets. Time to eat it up! With this new iteration, we have searching, rss, comments, a real archive, etc. There are just too many features to list here. Lets just say this “little” upgrade will make me a lot more motivated to update the website. Just being able to update it anywhere that I can access a web browser, makes me drool with anticipation. I even have all the archives from the old (hand-done) way of doin it in the system. Just remember kids, databases are your friend!
Holy crap, it’s late though, and I’ve been working on this WAY to much in the last week. I’ll post a better update on everything tomorrow (after some sleep).
Weee...It’s done.
***Currently Listening To: Frank Sinatra - Duets II How can you go wrong with Sinatra? I mean, he’s singing with other people, so that just adds to it. Good quality listening enjoyment.
Do you parents know you’re really a girl?
No, do you think I should tell them?
I can’t find the RSS linked anywhere. Where is it located?
on the main page (or if you hit the blog), scroll all the way to the bottom. It’s at the bottom with the Archives link.
Ahh. Look at how iffy and I do our XML buttons. We just use a CSS class (I think iffy ripped it off from Don Box) instead of an image. I was searching for text instead of looking with my eyes.
yeah, i see how you guys do it...but since this is an “all in one package” (aka movable type), this is the way it’s gonna be! :o
you REALLY need to get comments up and running though travis :)
Yes, I ripped it off. I did notice, though, that most of the blogs I read (outside our group), the orange button says “XML” instead of “RSS”. I think “RSS” makes more sense because it could be “ATOM”.
My eyes are relieved that the checkerboard thing is gone, but I still had to bump up the text size to read it on this here tablet. But, no worries thanks to your nice RSS feed. Do you have HTTP Compression turned on for this web? It seemed a bit slow.
yeah, it took me awhile to figure out the sizes of stuff. I still don’t know if I’m happy. It seems as though I want a size “in between” what it can go to. Yes, I do have compression running, I actually bought the zipenable program for it because of the OWA stuff you talked about. Most likely you visited while someone was on my ftp site. The web front tends to get bogged down when people are using all my bandwidth for ftp :)
My philosophy on font size is to NEVER go smaller. Make titles bigger, but leave text unchanged. If the person reading wants it smaller, they can adjust their browser to make it smaller.
I should clarify. “never” on the main body text. Sometimes footers, timestamps, etc, I go smaller.
is this better? I think I can handle this, and it does help with reading when it was posted…
