New Music

Where does everybody go to find new music? Obviously you can’t really listen to the radio to find “new” stuff, since they play the same things over and over (not to mention 90% is crap).  I’ve been visiting allmusic.com and amazon.com and following the links of what similiar people have bought.  This takes a lot of effort, so I was curious how others happen upon new stuff.

  1. I’ve found some new bands while listening to the openers of shows at the canopy (with headliners of bands that I already like).

  2. http://www.purevolume.com - stumbled upon it today. I usually just acquire everything I see and get lucky sometimes.

  3. Tim-

Yeah, I’ve been doing that too.  A lot of the headliner bands are very quality.  In fact, that’s how I found Matt Nathanson.  I thought he was actually better than the headliner.

I can’t believe that I forgot about Audioscrobberler (http://www.audioscrobbler.com) in the original post.  Granted, I don’t use it that much anymore, but it’s still a quality service.

  6. Dude!!! It’s just like we said!! Just like the endless link of websties. That’s, perhaps, one of the coolest websites I’ve ever seen. Much love to you, anonymator.
