Everybody always says how living in the city is so bad, and crime is so high, etc. Well, for the past year or so that I’ve been living here, I guess I hadn’t really noticed that much. That is to say that nothing had happened to me. Heck, I even left my garage door open accidentally once, for almost the whole day.
Well, that all changed today. When Jen came over to see Aaron, she noticed that Erin’s car window was broken. Erin and I were going to go for a bike ride yesterday, so she had brought her bike. Needless to say it was gone. Actually, it was the only thing gone. Her camera, which was also in the trunk, remained. Obviously it was someone that was walking by, since there would’ve been no other way to see it, which means it is someone from around the area.
She has filed a police report, and will talk to her insurance agency later today or tomorrow. I highly doubt anything will come of the police report, unfortunately. However, there is a camera at the end of the block, so tomorrow, I’m going to find out if it actually works, and if they may have footage of something. I figure it can’t hurt.
Congrats to Mr. Fraser on his new job. I guess it’s good that you’ll finally be moving in with the wife, eh?
Happy Birthday Colleen! Hope you have a good one.
Well, I’ve started a new redesign of the site, but I’m having a few problems that maybe someone could help me with. Basically, on the title, I can’t get it to sit 5px off the bottom. As you can see, the title sits 10px to the left like I want, but it won’t sit 10px above the bottom. If you go to my test page and increase and decrease the size of the page font you’ll see what I’m talking about.
The full CSS for this is available, but the section in question is given below.
#heading .title
{
color:#FFF;
font-size: 2em;
position: absolute;
bottom:10px;
left:10px;
}
Is this a normal feature of CSS? Basically, I want the text to sit 10px above the bottom of the dark background regardless of what size the font in increased to or decreased. If you look at an entry at the bottom, that text is always 10px away from the border, why can’t the title section? Yes, I know that it’s handled differently, but that’s the look I desire.
Sometime in September, Erin and I are planning on riding from Chicago to South Haven, MI. Now, since this is incredibly further than I’ve ever ridden before, there needs to be some training (specifically for the posterior).
Lately, I haven’t been riding at all. In fact, the last time I had gone was over the fourth. Granted, we did probably put in just over 20 miles that day. So, Erin found a workout schedule online that prepares you for a 100 mile ride. Basically, you ride 10 or so miles a day, and then ever Saturday you put in the large miles. Last weekend we were supposed to put in 30, which isn’t that far, as long as my rear end keeps up. Thankfully every time I’ve ridden it’s been able to keep up with longer and longer distances.
Well, like I said, we were supposed to put in 30. Instead, we put in over 40. Oops. This weekend we’re supposed to put in 37ish. For some reason, I don’t think that’ll be a problem.
